Congratulations to local artist Acácio Viegas for winning the first prize at the Bienal do Eixo Atlântico — a prestigious art competition bringing together creators from across the region.

The exhibition is on display at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Viana do Castelo until January 28, 2026, before traveling to other cities in the region.

It’s a proud moment for Viana’s art community and a reminder of the creativity thriving here. A beautiful win for the whole region!

Good news for growing families: the Santa Luzia Hospital will begin renovations of its delivery and maternity wing, part of wider improvements in the region’s healthcare infrastructure.

Local authorities are reviewing a proposal for a new dedicated facility for pets in the parish of Alvarães. It would offer daycare, training and care services — something many residents have asked for. If approved, it could provide jobs locally and improve quality of life for pet owners.
